Zelensky may join Putin and Trump's summit on 15 August.

US President Donald Trump announced a planned meeting with Russian leader Vladimir Putin in the US state of Alaska on 15 August 2025. About this Trump wrote in his social network Truth Social. An aide to Russian President Vladimir Putin, Yuri Ushakov, confirmed this information, the propaganda agency TASS reported.

Trump promised to provide details of the planned meeting later. Ushakov, however, explained that the economic interests of Russia and the United States overlap in Alaska and the Arctic.

According to him, during the meeting on 15 August, Trump and Putin will focus on discussing options to achieve a "long-term settlement of the Ukrainian crisis." He also added that Moscow expects the next meeting after this one to be held in Russia.

In turn, CBS News indicates that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky may join the summit between the leaders of the United States and Russia, which is scheduled for 15 August in Alaska.

The final plans for the summit have not yet been agreed upon, and there is still a possibility that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky may be involved in the event in some way," a White House source told CBS News.

The day before, US special envoy Steve Witkoff and Russian President Vladimir Putin held a three-hour meeting in Moscow. It took place on 6 August. Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov called the conversation "useful and constructive."

And US President Donald Trump said that "significant progress" was made during the meeting between Witkoff and Putin. After that, in a conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, he said that he intends to hold a trilateral meeting with him and Putin as early as next week. In turn, Zelensky emphasised that Ukraine is not afraid of meetings.

According to Bloomberg, Washington and Moscow are seeking to reach an agreement on ending the war in Ukraine, which would secure the occupied territories for Russia.
