Today, 31 May, Ukraine and Russia held 52 exchanges of prisoners of war. Seventy-five Ukrainians, including four civilians, were returned from captivity.

This was announced by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Among the 75 Ukrainians who managed to be returned from Russian captivity are soldiers of the Armed Forces, the National Guard, border guards and four civilians.

The Coordination Headquarters for the treatment of prisoners of war noted that one third of them had wounds, serious illnesses or disabilities.

Today, 75 Defenders and Protectors, as well as civilian Ukrainian women, are returning to their families. Among the released Defenders are 70 men and five women, six officers and 65 representatives of the rank and file," the report said.

According to Kodshtab released from captivity:

  • 37 representatives of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, including 13 fighters of the Navy and two representatives of the Air Force.
  • 21 National Guardsmen;
  • 19 defenders of Zmeiny Island;
  • 14 servicemen who guarded the Chernobyl nuclear power plant;
  • 10 Defenders of Mariupol;
  • 7 Defenders of Border Guards;
  • 6 servicemen of territorial defence;
  • 4 civilian women.

According to Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets, among those released is a woman who was at Azovstal. She had been in enemy captivity for more than 2 years, and her underage son had been in the occupied territories for some time.

Today during the exchange the boy Dima met with his mum, who returned home from captivity. ... I note, Dmitry was brought home by the Office of the Ombudsman from the WOT of Ukraine. Regarding the boy's mum - the prisoner of war wanted to illegally convict the Russians," Lubinets said.

Among the released Ukrainians is also a police officer from Mariupol Maryana Checheliuk. The media repeatedly reported that the Russians are holding the twenty-year-old girl in non-human conditions.

It is worth noting that 3,210 Ukrainians have been returned from Russian captivity since the beginning of the full-scale invasion.
