The Finnish head of state said that he understood the hesitation of some political leaders to provide arms to Ukraine.

Finnish President Sauli Niinistö believes that Russia is increasing its aggression and is already involving other countries in the war. Niinistö said this in an interview with The New York Time.

In particular, he pointed out that the wreckage of Russian drones poses a direct threat to the residents of Romania and those are forced to run for cover during Russian attacks.

This puts other members of the Alliance in an extremely delicate situation and threatens to unleash a full-scale war that will go beyond Ukraine and cover the entire continent," Niiniste said.

He also believes that the likelihood of Moscow using weapons of mass destruction continues to grow.

Even small things can make a big difference. That is the risk of such a large-scale war. The risk of using nuclear weapons is enormous," the Finnish leader said.

Niiste said he supports the "too cautious" policy of US President Joe Biden or German Chancellor Olaf Scholz in providing Ukraine with long-range missiles.

There is a difference between those who have responsibility and those who do not. We also hear voices in Finland that America should do this or that. And I just wanted to point out that if there is an escalation of a great war, it will be a world war, so the nuclear risk becomes clearly greater," the Finnish president emphasised.
