Polish farmers have announced a general strike, which includes a blockade of all border crossings between Poland and Ukraine, as well as some roads and motorways.

This was announced by Solidarity, an independent trade union of individual farmers.

The strike will start on 9 February 2024 at 10:00 and will last until 10 March 2024.

Our patience has run out. Brussels' position on the last day of January 2024 is unacceptable for our entire agrarian community. In addition, the passivity of the Polish authorities and the declaration of co-operation with the European Commission and declarations of compliance with all decisions of the European Commission regarding the import of agricultural products and foodstuffs from Ukraine leave us no other choice but to declare a general strike," the farmers explained the reason for the strike.

They noted that they will fight for the Polish government to form a clear plan for agricultural production, profitability of production, restoration of Polish processing and Polish trade.

For the duration of the strike farmers are going to block all border crossings on the Polish-Ukrainian border, as well as block roads and motorways in some voivodships of Poland.

We shall remind you that on 6 November, Polish hauliers blocked three border crossings on the border with Ukraine. Later, Polish farmers joined the strike.
