Poland will not honour Ukraine's request to shoot down Russian missiles flying towards western Ukraine without a NATO-wide decision.

Poland will not shoot down Russian missiles and drones in the skies over Ukraine without the consent of all NATO members. This was stated by Polish National Defence Minister Vladyslav Kosyniak-Kamysh in an interview with Polish Radio.

He explained that Poland would not make any decisions on this issue on its own and that it should be a decision of NATO as a whole.

The minister added that there is no such consensus in NATO and pointed to the position of the White House, which has stated that it does not want an escalation of the conflict.

Of course, there are other procedures regarding missiles on the territory of the republic. Then it will be our decision," he emphasised.

Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysh gave an interview to Polish Radio in Washington, where he is taking part in the NATO anniversary summit.

Earlier, Socialportal reported that on 8 July Ukraine and Poland signed a security agreement: the document provides for the possibility for Poland to intercept Russian missiles and drones and the formation of a "Ukrainian legion" of Ukrainian refugees.
