Passengers on planes in the EU will be able to use 5G mobile internet

The British agency reports that the European Commission has ruled that airlines can give 5G technology on board aircraft.

EU member states must make 5G frequency bands available to aviation by 30 June 2023.

It also means that passengers will not have to switch their phones to in-flight mode. But exactly how the technology will work is not yet known.
