The SBU has detained in Kyiv the owner of an agricultural holding company that supplies food products to the occupants on the left bank of the Kherson Region.

The SBU has collected evidence on the founder of one of the largest agricultural holdings in Ukraine, who is suspected of financing the armed aggression of the Russian Federation, the SBU has said. The SBU reported that.

The defendant was detained in his son's flat in Kyiv, where he was hiding and planning to escape to Russia.

According to the investigation, the food company controlled by the defendant is located on the temporarily occupied left bank of the Kherson region and works in the interests of the Russian Federation. In particular, this firm is among the main suppliers of food products for Russian troops, which are in the south of Ukraine, - said in the special service.

For this purpose, in May 2022, the businessman organised the "re-registration" of the agricultural company in the occupation "department of the Federal Tax Service of the Russian Federation in the Kherson region". Since then, the enterprise of the figurehead has been paying more than 100 thousand Russian rubles as "taxes" to the budget of the local occupation administration of the Russian Federation every month.

In addition, the attacker's agricultural company is one of the region's leading financial donors to the Russian "fund for the support of the participants of the NWO", which was established by Putin's decree in April 2023. It has also been documented that the businessman handed over to Russian troops the warehouses of the company's production complex in the temporarily seized Kakhovsky district of Kherson region.

It has been established that the command of the Russian occupation groups uses logistics hangars to store their own weapons, ammunition and military equipment. Among them - Russian self-propelled artillery systems and multiple rocket launchers, which carry out shelling on the territory of Berislav district, - reported in the SBU.

On the basis of the collected evidence SBU investigators informed the figure of suspicion under part 1 of article 111-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (complicity to the state-aggressor).

Now he is in custody. The investigation is continuing to establish all the circumstances of the offence. The attacker faces up to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property.
