The occupiers seized "Askania-Novaya"

Most scientists did not cooperate with the enemy.

Russian invaders seized the Askania-Nova Animal Breeding Institute named after Academician Ivanov. The occupiers hung their flag on the administration, and also put their own director. It is reported by New Day.

On condition of anonymity, the reserve’s employees said that the new head, Valery Topikh, had previously worked at customs and allegedly did not show himself well there.

Also, the workers of the reserve said that the Russians do not show any interest in science, they are more concerned about the fields from which they soon need to harvest. Work, write the media, call all former employees. Some guards, drivers and even scientists agreed to this. However, the majority of workers in Askania refused to cooperate with the occupiers.

Askania-Noova is the biosphere reserve Askania-Nova named after F. E. Falz-Fein of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, located in the Kherson region of Ukraine, near the urban-type settlement of the same name, 60 km southeast of Kakhovka.

18 species of mammals inhabit the steppe territories of the reserve, including Przhevalsky horses, kulans, deer, fallow deer, saigas, bison, zebras, not counting small animals like jerboas, hamsters and mice. In addition, more than a thousand species of arthropods, several species of reptiles and amphibians live here, about a hundred species of birds arrive for nesting. The ornithological section of the Askania-Nova Zoo contains about 60 species of birds. In total, more than 100 species of mammals and birds are represented in the Askanian zoo.
