Occupiers plan to “trial” Ukrainian prisoners in Mariupol on Independence Day of Ukraine

The Russian occupiers are planning to arrange a trial of prisoners of war in Mariupol on August 24.
Mayor of Mariupol Vadim Boychenko shared information about the plans of the invaders to arrange a show trial of prisoners of war in Mariupol on the Independence Day of Ukraine. The mayor of Mariupol announced this at a briefing on August 11.
More than 10,000 (people - ed.) are in prisons, many of them are military. And they want somewhere on our holiday, Independence Day, to make their Sabbath in Mariupol, - Boychenko said.
According to Vadym Boychenko, the date of the "trial" is not final, the invaders are also considering other symbolic dates.
The Mariupol Philharmonic, the pearl of the city, where only festive events took place, the invaders are turning into a place of trial for our prisoners of war and civilians. Now there are about 10,000 Mariupol residents in Russian prisons, as well as a large number of prisoners of war,” Boychenko added.
According to Vadim Boychenko, there are two goals for holding a “trial”: the absence of Russian victories at the front in order to show at least some “achievements” - a victory over prisoners; the second goal is to scare other heroes who are defending the Ukrainian state today.
Recall that earlier the Mariupol City Council reported that the occupiers continue to disregard all international norms and plan to lynch Ukrainian defenders taken prisoner.
