Russians hold illegally imprisoned Crimean journalist Irina Danilovich in unsanitary conditions and deprive her of medical care.

This was reported by the Ukrainian parliamentary commissioner for human rights, Dmytro Lubinets, citing the journalist's father.

Iryna Danilovych was sued by the occupants on far-fetched charges and sentenced to seven years in prison. The woman is kept in correctional colony No. 7 in the town of Zelenokumsk in the Stavropol Territory of the Russian Federation.

The colony authorities, according to the journalist's father, ignore her complaints about the terrible pain in her left ear, which can cause the woman to lose her hearing completely.

The medication that is given to her parents does not reach Irina. Moreover, the woman is kept in terrible unsanitary conditions: for 400 people there are only five water taps on the street with ice-cold water," the report says.

Cockroaches are not uncommon in food, and there is no soap in the canteen. The cells are very cold, the roofs leak, so the prisoners are always wearing winter jackets.

Dmytro Lubinets said that he was preparing another appeal demanding the immediate release of Iryna Danylovich and other seriously ill Ukrainian political prisoners.

Russia is subjecting Ukrainian citizens to torture. This is a gross violation of the Convention against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment; the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, the European Convention on Human Rights," the ombudsman added.

Recall, Irina Danilovich worked in temporarily occupied Crimea as a nurse and at the same time co-operated with independent media. In April 2022, the Russians kidnapped the woman and sued the woman on suspicion of illegal possession of explosives.
