Nikolaev survived a terrible night under shelling: there are dead and wounded
At night, Nikolaev was subjected to massive shelling: a number of objects were destroyed and residential buildings were damaged.
On the night of July 31, the invaders shelled the city twice. The first time after one in the morning, the second time - in the morning. This shelling was the heaviest since the beginning of the Russian invasion. Mayor Alexander Senkevich wrote about this in Telegram.
Today Nikolaev was subjected to massive shelling. Probably the strongest ever. Powerful explosions were heard after one in the morning and around five in the morning. A number of objects were destroyed, residential buildings were damaged,” the mayor wrote.
It is known that a number of infrastructure facilities were damaged as a result of the shelling. In particular, a hotel, a sports complex, two educational institutions and a service station. Also, fires broke out in the places of "arrivals".
According to the mayor of the city, the attacks were carried out with cluster shells.
The tail of one of the rockets flew right into the window of the apartment on the seventh floor. We have no windows or balconies at the landing sites... According to our calculations, there were about 12 arrivals and two more missiles shot down air defenses. Around 5 am - repeated shelling, preliminary - S-300. Private facilities and educational institutions were damaged. It is known about two dead and two wounded, - said Senkevich in the morning on the air of TSN.
The fact that a massive attack was carried out in the city at night is also confirmed by our journalist Artur Zayats, who is in the city and is following the course of events. According to him, the blows were very strong. People had to hide in the corridors all night.
It became known that during the shelling of Nikolaev that night, the Hero of Ukraine, the owner of the largest grain trading company "Nibulon" Aleksey Vadatursky, was killed. Ukrayinska Pravda writes about this, citing its source.
A Russian shell hit Vadatursky's house, his wife also died, he said.
In 2021, Forbes estimated the businessman's fortune at $430 million, Vadatursky ranked 24th in the TOP 100 richest people in Ukraine.
Also, the head of the Nikolaev OVA, Vitaly Kim, reported on the massive shelling of the city in Telegram. He confirmed that a number of infrastructure facilities were damaged as a result of shelling.
Several fires broke out at the arrival sites - a two-story building, an extension to a residential building, two garages and two outbuildings caught fire. Detailed information is specified, - added Kim.
