More than 2 trillion hryvnias of damage caused to the environment by Russian aggression

As a result of Russian aggression, the environment has suffered damage of more than 2 trillion hryvnias or 55.6 billion euros.
This was announced by Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Schmigal at the international forum United for Justice. United for Nature".
According to him, half of the losses incurred are air pollution, as a result of forest fires, missile attacks and oil product fires. Also, more than 980 billion UAH of losses - land pollution, 60 billion UAH - water bodies.
Compensation for this damage should come from confiscated Russian assets," Denys Shmygal said.
At the Council of Europe Summit in Reykjavik, the International Register of War Losses was created, which also records environmental losses. This, according to the Prime Minister, will be the first element of the compensation mechanism. There should be three in total: a register of losses, a claims commission and a compensation fund. The fund should be filled from confiscated Russian assets.
