Previously, Moldova bought electricity from Ukraine. But because of the shelling of Ukraine by Russia, Ukraine was forced to stop exporting.

This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister of Moldova Andrei Spinu. According to him, there is a difficult situation with electricity in Moldova now. And it is critical to reduce consumption.

Now the Russian Gazprom will supply only 51% of the gas volumes agreed under the contract (5.7 million m³).

Spinu warned that already from the beginning of November, the shortage of electricity would be noticeable. The Deputy Prime Minister also noted that the state company Energocom purchased another 27 million m3 of gas from the market, thus increasing its strategic reserves to 127 million m3.
