Ukraine and Moldova received the status of candidates for EU accession
On June 23, at a summit in Brussels, the leaders of the European Union approved the decision to grant Ukraine candidate status for membership.
Also, the status of a candidate was granted to Moldova.
The decision was made on the basis of a recommendation from the European Commission, provided on 17 June.
This was reported by a number of European politicians, in particular the head of the European Council, Charles Michel.

He also pointed out that the European Union has decided to recognize the European perspective of Georgia and is ready to grant candidate status as soon as the outstanding priorities are resolved.
