Putin awarded Republika Srpska President Dodik with the Order of Alexander Nevsky for "strengthening partnership" between Russia and Republika Srpska

Milorad Dodik, president of the Republika Srpska (Republika Srpska ) within Bosnia and Herzegovina, showed the order he received from Putin by "washing" it with vodka. Dodik published the video on 21 February on social network X.

In Kazan, according to traditional Russian tradition, we celebrated the awarding of the Order of Alexander Nevsky, which I received today from Russian President Vladimir Putin," Dodik wrote.

The day before, Milorad Dodik met with Putin in Kazan. At the end of the meeting, Putin awarded Dodik with the Order of Alexander Nevsky for "strengthening the partnership" between the Russian Federation and Republika Srpska.

This is Dodik's fourth meeting with Putin since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Dodik also met with Lukashenko on Tuesday.

Republika Srpska is an entity within Bosnia and Herzegovina. Established in 1992 as a self-proclaimed state, it became integral to Bosnia and Herzegovina due to the 1995 Dayton Accords.

The territories inhabited by Bosnian Serbs declared independence of their Republika Srpska in early 1992 in response to the withdrawal of Bosnia and Herzegovina from Yugoslavia initiated by Bosnian Muslims at the same time.
