Merkel is ready to become an intermediary between Ukraine and Russia

Merkel admits that her resignation may have influenced Putin's decision to launch a full-scale war against Ukraine.
Former German Chancellor Angela Merkel did not rule out that in the future she could play the role of an intermediary between Ukraine and Russia. She stated this in an interview with RND .
At the same time, Merkel noted that "today this issue is not being raised."
On the other hand, I failed to create an additional format for discussions between Europe and Russia on the European security order,” Merkel added.
At the same time, Merkel admitted that her resignation could influence the decision of Russian President Vladimir Putin to start a full-scale war against Ukraine.
Perhaps my departure influenced, like the elections in France, and the withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan, and the stagnation in the implementation of the Minsk agreements, Merkel stressed.
She said she tried last year to discuss a new European security order with Putin.
On the one hand, Putin was no longer ready for the Normandy format summit. On the other hand, I failed to create an additional European-Russian discussion format on the European security order along with the Normandy format, Merkel said.
She admitted her own impotence at the end of her term.
It was clear that I would not be in power for long, and so I just have to state that the various attempts in the past year had no effect, Merkel added.
Earlier, former German Chancellor Angela Merkel said that information about the preparation of the Russian Federation for a war in Ukraine came from the US intelligence services in October 2021. According to her, she closely followed the visit of Chancellor Olaf Scholz to Moscow on February 15, as "it was clear that something bad was happening."
It should be noted that statements about the political responsibility of the former leadership, which put the country in risky dependence on Russia, are already being heard in German society.
