She also noted that 42,000 women military personnel are now serving in the Armed Forces, and together with civilian workers - 60,000.

The full-scale invasion has presented us with new questions and challenges on this topic. Today there are 42 thousand female military personnel in the AFU, and together with civilian workers there are 60 thousand. Of these, 5,000 are on the front line. Unfortunately, 107 women have been killed and wounded, - said Anna Malyar, Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine.

Recall, in the land forces of the AFU the number of female officers has increased over the past year - it is now almost 3.8 thousand military

Legislative changes that took place in 2018 allowed women to hold combat positions and allowed them to study any military specialties.

The women who are now in the army are strong, motivated, fearless women who have volunteered to defend their homeland," Malyar said.

The official noted that Ukrainian women defend the state just like men do.
