China will also regulate exports of dual civilian and military goods.

Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang said this at a meeting with German Foreign Minister Annalena Berbock.

The Chinese official said that his country would not sell weapons to parties involved in the war in Ukraine and would regulate the export of dual civilian and military goods.

Qin Gang was thus responding to concerns by the US and other countries that China might start supplying weapons to Russia. After all, China politically and rhetorically supports Russia in this war, although it officially claims to remain neutral.

When it comes to military exports, China takes a calculated and responsible approach.

In her remarks, Berbock noted that as a permanent member of the UN Security Council, China has a special responsibility to help end the conflict. Berbock also asked China to influence Russia with its authority.

It is worth recalling that the European Union's chief diplomat Josep Borrell warned that China's position and actions regarding Russia's war against Ukraine is one of the factors that will influence further relations between Beijing and Europe.
