The publication also points out that China has recently been actively promoting the idea that the Chinese people lost 1.7 million square kilometres of territory as a result of unequal treaties with Russia at different points in time. In particular:

  • The Far East
  • part of the territories of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan
  • the region now known as Outer Manchuria, which covers more than 1 million square kilometres
  • access to the Sea of Japan

Moscow has not yet responded to the map.
