It has become known when the West plans to consider Ukraine's membership in NATO

Ukraine expects to join the North Atlantic Alliance in the near future.
The issue of Ukraine's accession to the North Atlantic Alliance will be considered at the NATO summit in Washington in July. This was stated by former NATO deputy secretary-general Rose Gottemoeller in an interview with LRT.
She stressed that Ukraine has been a candidate for membership in the organisation since the 2008 Bucharest summit.
Of course, this is a long time and a lot has happened since then. However, the fact remains that nothing has changed," she said.
She said that NATO member states have different opinions on whether Ukraine can join NATO now and some of them believe that Ukraine should not be admitted to the organisation as long as the war continues.
Gottemoeller agreed that there may be different views on this, but indicated that her personal view is that Ukraine is capable of providing pure security because its Armed Forces are functioning very well.
They have shown that they are capable of fighting and supporting the defence of their country," the former NATO deputy secretary-general assured.
According to her, this is the main criterion for membership.
The former deputy secretary-general stressed that Ukraine would become a member of the organisation, but noted that she could not speak about specific terms.
