The Office of the Attorney General has documented 287 cases of conflict-related sexual violence (CRSV) since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

This was reported to NV by Viktor Misyak, prosecutor of the department of procedural management of pre-trial investigation and maintenance of public prosecution in criminal proceedings on sexual violence offences of the Department of Countering Crimes Committed in the Armed Conflict of the Office of the Prosecutor General.

As of 1 April 2024, the most cases of sexual violence were recorded in the Kherson region - 85. Also:

  • Donetsk region - 74 cases;
  • Kiev region - 56 cases;
  • Kharkiv region - 34 cases;
  • Zaporizhzhya - 18 cases;
  • Mykolaivska - 10 cases;
  • Chernihivska - 7 cases;
  • Sumy - 2 cases.

The majority of victims of SNPK are women - 185 people, the number of male victims is 102. Among them there are 15 minors - 14 girls and one boy.

These are officially documented by prosecutors cases of rape, mutilation or abuse of genitals, forced nudity, threats and attempts of rape, forced sexual abuse of loved ones.

On the example of the Kherson region, prosecutors have recorded such crimes of military rf as rape, torture, and gender-based violence against mothers, wives, and sisters of military personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. These are nothing but patterns. This is a weapon for the destruction of the nation of Ukrainians, genocide," Viktor Misyak said.

According to him, law enforcers have reported suspicion of 40 Russian military personnel who committed sexual violence in the occupied territories of Kyiv, Chernihiv, Kherson, Kharkiv and Mykolaiv regions. Nineteen indictments against 28 people were sent to court, two were sentenced to 12 years and 10 years in prison.

At the same time, Viktor Misyak noted that the officially recorded number of cases of sexual violence does not reflect the scale of such crimes. Mobile working groups of prosecutors, investigators, international experts and psychologists continue to work in the de-occupied territories.
