In Crimea, occupants destroyed Chersonesos Tavrichesky for the sake of new buildings

This was reported by Ukrayinska Pravda with reference to a statement by Evelyna Kravchenko, a senior researcher at the Institute of Archaeology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, during the III International Forum of the Crimean Platform Expert Network.

The Russians have completely destroyed the Chersonesos Tavriches for the sake of building a new theatre, which appeared on the site of archaeological excavations. But some of the historical values were taken out to the Russian Federation.

The researcher noted that the invaders replaced the original monuments with new buildings, destroying their authenticity.

Now there are negative processes with the only monument of world significance, which we managed to nominate and put on the list of monuments in the Crimea - with Chersonesos Tavrichesky, - quotes Evelina Kravchenko.

It is noted that it is not the first time that the Russians cause damage to historical monuments in Crimea. In particular, in 2016-2016, the invaders blocked archaeological remains by building viewing platforms. After that, an antique open theatre appeared on the site of the ancient citadel, which strongly presses on the original structure.

In parallel, the occupiers exported the found artefacts to Russian museums. Among them are frescoes, icons, household items and crockery. And then on the site of the remains of the necropolis began to build an archaeological park "New Chersonese".

According to the researcher, the Russians have no idea about the peculiarities of this area, causing even more damage to the monuments.

The Russians did not understand anything about the geological situation in this place, so they started to remove the soil on the territory with ordinary excavators. Somehow they unearthed an ancient spring there, so everything flooded," said Evelina Kravchenko.

According to her, they literally built a new city on the place of archaeological remains.
