The Hungarian government has closed its borders with Slovakia. Only two border crossings are available for transit transport of goods.

Information about the closure of the Slovak-Hungarian border for cargo transport, including those with Ukrainian licence plates, has appeared online. In particular, this was reported by the pro-RussianStrana.

According to the portal, Ukrainian truck drivers tried to pass to Ukraine through Hungary. However, Hungarians blocked the checkpoint at the border with Slovakia to prevent them from entering the country. More than a thousand trucks gathered in the queue at the border.

The portal also publishes a video allegedly filmed at the Slovak-Hungarian border on behalf of the hauliers.

Apostrof has also reported about the blockade of crossings between Slovakia and Hungary, citing journalist Kostyantyn Anriuk. He points out that Hungary has become the third country that prevents the passage of vans with Ukrainian licence plates.

A multi-kilometre queue of vans on the Slovak-Hungarian border. After the blockade of Slovak carriers, drivers decided to leave Slovakia via Hungary. A queue was formed here, and then the lorries were not allowed to pass at all," he points out.

In turn, the portal Trans.info reports that the Hungarian government has closed the borders with Slovakia. Only two border crossings are available for transit transport of goods. It is reported that freight transport is impossible at the crossings:

  • Medvedov - Vamosszabadi
  • Shturovo - Esztergom
  • Šagi - Paraššapusta
  • Lenartovce - Banreve
  • Slovenske Nové Město - Šatoraljaujhej

A huge queue of lorries has formed at the Šagi - Paraššapusta border crossing," the portal writes.

As of the morning of 2 November, 955 trucks are queuing at the Slovak border to enter Ukraine. Another 1,100 vehicles are queuing to enter Ukraine from Hungary at the checkpoint "Chop (Tisa) - Zakhon". The management of the Transcarpathian customs adds that 32 vehicles are waiting to leave the territory of our state at the checkpoint "Uzhhorod - Vyshnee Nemetskoe".

At the Polish-Ukrainian border on December 2, 2,400 trucks piled up because of the strike of carriers in the neighbouring EU state. Two checkpoints - Jagodin and Krakivets - are not working. The biggest queues are observed at the Shehyni and Rawa-Russka checkpoints.
