How many Ukrainians join the army every month, Zelensky said

Zelensky revealed details of the monthly mobilisation and stressed that the decision to expand the army remains highly sensitive for the country.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said that the Ukrainian army mobilises about 30,000 people every month. At the same time, the issue of increasing mobilisation remains one of the most sensitive, as it is necessary to maintain a balance between the needs of the frontline and the country's economy.
Even if the military asks to mobilise more, we need to remember: this is society, these are people who have to work and pay taxes. It is this money that then goes to the army," Zelensky emphasised.
In an interview with Bloomberg, the head of state stressed that the decision on the volume of mobilisation was made solely by the Ukrainian military command, despite pressure from some Western partners.
With all due respect to our partners - they are not on the battlefield," Zelenskyy said.
Also in the conversation, the president pointed to the acute shortage of artillery and modern air defence systems, which are especially important to defend against constant Russian shelling. At the same time, he noted that Ukraine has already started production of its own interceptor drones and joint projects with the US in the defence industry to strengthen the army's self-sufficiency.
Speaking about the army's needs, Zelenskyy said that for effective strikes on objects on the territory of Russia, long-range artillery capable of overcoming air defences is needed.
The head of state also commented on the situation on the front, including the battles for Pokrovsk.
Tactical decisions on advancing or retreating are made by commanders on the ground, and the focus is on preserving the lives of soldiers. In October, the Russians lost more than 25,000 people near Pokrovsk and this is only confirmed drone videos," Zelensky said.
