Russian forces launched a massive attack on Kiev with drones and missiles of various types on the night of 28 August.



The greatest damage was recorded in Darnytskyy district, where a missile hit the entrance of a five-storey apartment block. Rescue operation continues under the rubble, three people have been pulled out from under the ruins. Among the dead is a 14-year-old child, another 11-year-old child is in extremely serious condition in hospital.

Other residential buildings were damaged in the same area: the wreckage of the drone fell on the roof of a nine-storey building, and destruction was recorded in a 16-storey building, private sector, a car park and a kindergarten. According to Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko, the enemy hit the residential five-storey building with a missile at the level of the third-fourth floor, which caused significant damage.

In Dniprovsky district, a 25-storey building was damaged, a drone fell into a courtyard near a nine-storey building, dozens of cars were burned or damaged. In Solomensky district a private house was burning, in Shevchenko district office buildings and cars were destroyed. In Goloseevsky district in the morning fires and damage to more than ten residential buildings were recorded. Obolonsky and Desnyansky districts were also under attack.

According to the head of the KHVA Timur Tkachenko, the total number of damaged objects in Kiev may reach a hundred, the number of broken windows - several thousand. A shopping centre in the city centre was also damaged.

About 500 rescuers and 1000 police officers are involved in the liquidation of the consequences, mobile squads of the State Emergency Service with climbers, cynologists, psychologists and robotic equipment are working on the site.

According to the KSCA, the number of injured in the capital has risen to 45 people, eight dead are known. President Vladimir Zelensky expressed condolences to the families of the victims and noted that there might still be people under the rubble.
