US Secretary of State says further US support for Ukraine will depend on it
The United States remains one of the countries that has given Ukraine the most support in the fight against the occupiers.
Further military and financial support for Ukraine in its confrontation with Russian invaders will depend on the results of the US election. This was stated by former US State Department special representative for Ukraine Kurt Volker.
In particular, the politician noted that the majority of representatives of both political parties in Congress continue to support Ukraine, at the same time, many are asking the question - "how long can this continue".
We begin to explain how the United States is involved in this, that we transfer weapons, not money, it is 3.5% of the annual defence budget. It's helped Ukraine survive and it's cost Russia to start holding back. People have different views on this," Volker said.
He also expressed confidence that the assistance to Ukraine would remain in full until the US election.
What happens after the election will depend on the results of the election itself. But I suspect that support for Ukraine will continue. By that time, even sceptics will understand that Ukraine is really winning," he stressed.
We would like to point out that the total amount of aid that the USA allocates to Ukraine has exceeded that of any other country. According to The Washington Post, this amount has already exceeded $66.2bn, of which $43.1bn is military aid, $20.5bn is the share of economic support and another $2.6bn is humanitarian aid.
