Interior minister reveals how many Russian war crimes have already been recorded
The national police have recorded about a third of all crimes committed in Ukraine by Russians during the full-scale war.
Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko said this in an interview with Ukrinform.
According to the minister, as of today more than 65,000 war crimes have been recorded. This is about one third of all the crimes committed on the territory of our state during the full-scale war.
Since war crimes are the responsibility of the SBU, law enforcers of the Interior Ministry system collect information and then transfer it to the Security Service of Ukraine.
But the police are practically always the first to respond to any crime because they are more numerically present on the territory of our country and our units are quite numerous, more than, for example, SBU units, " Klymenko said.
The Interior Minister added that the Interior Ministry also sends information to the Prosecutor General's Office, and it is the Prosecutor General who determines how the investigation will proceed and how data will be transferred to international courts, including international tribunals. Because, he said, it is the Office of the Prosecutor General that is responsible for the correctness of information collection by all law enforcement agencies that are involved in documenting such crimes.
