Germany to classify information on arms supplies to Ukraine

The main purpose of such actions is "strategic ambiguity."
The government of the new German chancellor, Friedrich Merz, will stop making publicly available information about supplies of rocket launchers, tanks, air defence systems and other weapons to Ukraine and will keep this information secret, DPA has reported, citing sources in the German government.
It is noted that such a step is aimed at depriving Russia of potential military advantages at the expense of information available in open sources.
The agency's interlocutor emphasised that this is about creating a "strategic ambiguity", which will allow to hide the real actions of Berlin from the enemy.
Similar information tactics were used in the first months of the large-scale war: according to DPA, the decision on military support for Ukraine was taken by the government of Olaf Scholz as early as 27 February 2022, but the details were not disclosed until June. The publication of the arms lists on the official website only began under public pressure.
The German Parliament is likely to be informed about arms deliveries to Ukraine at secret meetings of the parliamentary Defence Committee.
Earlier it became known that Germany announced a new aid package for Ukraine. The new package includes Gepard anti-aircraft systems, missiles for IRIS-T air defence systems, ammunition of various calibres, military equipment, drones, assault rifles, first aid kits and other equipment. Detailed information is available on the website of the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany.
