US general tells how many days the AFU has for a counter-offensive
Frosts may complicate the advance of Ukrainian troops on the front.
The active phase of the Ukrainian troops' counter-offensive on the frontline may last for another 30-45 days. The head of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Mark Milley, has said that it will become more difficult to advance to the east and south because of the cold weather, the BBC has reported.
The general believes that the difficult weather may affect the advance of Ukrainian troops and it will become more difficult for them to carry out manoeuvres.
Heavy fighting is still going on. The Ukrainians are fighting and advancing consistently. There is still some time left, probably about 30-45 days of battle-worthy weather. The fighting is not over yet. The AFU has not yet finished the combat phase of what they have planned," the general said.
Milly stressed that he had previously spoken about the length and complexity of the war, and therefore it is not worth it to expect that the Ukrainian army will be able to quickly cover the planned distance.
I said from the very beginning that this war would be long, slow, difficult and associated with a large number of casualties. This is what is happening," summarised the American general.
We would like to point out that Ukrainian troops are advancing in the Bakhmutivskyy and Melitopol directions.
