Former British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has become Zelensky's economic recovery adviser

Former British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has joined the International Advisory Council for Ukraine's Economic Recovery, which is working under the leadership of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Sunak will advise the Ukrainian side on economic revival and building energy resilience in the face of war, The Independent reported.

Sunak has taken an unpaid position as a member of the council, which also includes international experts to assist both the president himself and his economic adviser, former Canadian Deputy Prime Minister Chrysta Freeland.

According to sources, the former prime minister attended the council' s first meeting, where the most important areas - including strengthening Ukraine's energy stability ahead of next winter and attracting international investment - were discussed.

Sunak said he was honoured to support Ukraine: "The West needs a strong Ukraine, and a strong Ukraine needs a strong economy. I am convinced that Ukraine - with its human potential, natural resources and culture of innovation - can become one of the most dynamic economies in Europe."

Sunak's appointment is part of an international effort to support Ukraine's economy and its recovery from war, strengthen its energy infrastructure and expand the country's investment opportunities.
