Helsinki does not rule out the worst case scenario.
Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo indicated in an interview with Yle that Helsinki takes the issue of a new Russian attack on neighbouring states, including Finland, seriously.
Helsinki is ready for such a development," he said.
At the same time, he noted that the authorities consider such a scenario "without fear," but try to prepare for Russian aggression on the territory of Finland.
We are not afraid, but we are ready for the worst scenarios," the politician emphasised.
Orpo added that for the third year already the neighbouring Russian Federation has been waging an illegal war of aggression, and this requires increased vigilance.
We should be concerned. They are trying to intimidate us, but there is no room for fear. The wise prepare in advance. Finland has learnt this lesson from its history," the Finnish Prime Minister said.
Last month, Finland issued new instructions for citizens to prepare them for possible war, shocks and crisis situations. Often, a website was launched, which contains information on such issues as home security, war, civil protection, evacuation and national defence. This was reported by Helsingin Sanomat.
