Ukraine's allies need to increase military support to prevail.

Ukraine may lose the war to Russia as early as 2025. This was stated by Doug Livermore, a former adviser to the US deputy defence secretary, in his column for CEPA.

He pointed out that Russia's active offensives on the frontline have depleted Ukraine's defence capabilities, and Kiev is unable to recapture territory because of too much passivity from the West.

Ukraine's partners should give the country unrestricted access to the most modern weapons," the former Pentagon adviser said.

At the same time, he pointed out that Russia's allies have become more active. Moreover, North Korea sent troops to Russia at the Kremlin's request.

At the same time, Livermore pointed out that Kiev still has a chance to turn the situation around and come out of the confrontation victorious. He made a list of five decisions that Kiev and the West should make on the way to victory. These should include:

  • lower the minimum conscription age in Ukraine to 21 or 22, and involve Ukrainian refugees abroad in the fight;
  • lift restrictions on the use of Western weaponry, including strikes on military installations on Russian territory;
  • expand training of the Ukrainian military and provide Kiev with real-time intelligence from Western partners;
  • increase sanctions and economic pressure on Russia;
  • strengthen NATO's eastern flank.

He added that Kiev's victory was the main condition for a stable peace in Ukraine and Europe.
