Eurovision 2023: Tkachenko calls on organisers to make sure the word "war" is heard from the stage
The head of the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy, Oleksandr Tkachenko, urged the British to keep the word "war" from the stage during the Eurovision Song Contest, on which Ukraine cannot hold the song contest.
This was reported by the ministry's press service.
It is important to us that during Eurovision 2023 in Liverpool the honest word "war" is heard. It should also be important for the world. Which should understand why we cannot exercise our legal right to host Eurovision 2023 in Ukraine - because of Russia's brutal aggression," Tkachenko said during talks with the Eurovision partners.
He also stressed that the programme should be really powerful and represent the culture and spirit of Ukraine. This is possible thanks to the synergy of the partner countries.
I am very happy that the UK won second place and hosts Eurovision 2023 for us and for us. Thank you to the BBC, the city of Liverpool, the European Language Union (EBU), the UK authorities and NSTU for the work done, - added the Minister.
The report notes that during the meeting a sociological survey was mentioned, according to which revising the Eurovision Song Contest makes people 30% happier.
