DTEK has won a court case against the Russian Federation over seized assets in illegally annexed Crimea. The International Court of Arbitration in The Hague fully satisfied the lawsuit filed by the Ukrainian company and ordered Russia to pay compensation.

This was reported by DTEK's press service .

The arbitration awarded Russia to pay the Ukrainian company $267m in damages, including interest and court expenses as of the date of the ruling," the statement said.

Interest will be charged until the aggressor country pays the full amount of losses.

It is noted that the lawsuit on the claim ofDTEK Krymenergo against the Russian Federation has been ongoing since 2017. The aggressor appropriated the company's assets in 2014, after the illegal occupation of the Ukrainian peninsula.

According to the 1958 New York Convention, the arbitral award is enforceable. Currently, DTEK is going to start the process of recognising and allowing the award to be enforced in the territories of those states where Russia's assets are located.

Socialportal reported earlier that the European Court of Human Rights accepted Ukraine's lawsuit against Russia. The lawsuit accuses Russia of military aggression, attacks on civilians and other human rights violations.
