The President expressed condolences to the families and friends of the victims, emphasising that all the victims were civilians.

The President stressed that the parties had an opportunity to stop the hostilities on 16 May and reminded that Ukraine has long advocated a complete and unconditional ceasefire to save lives. However, he said, Russia continues to maintain only one goal - the ability to kill. The president called for increased pressure on the aggressor country to put an end to the bloodshed.
Zelensky also expressed his expectation from the United States, European countries and other partners of strong sanctions against the Russian Federation, thanking all those who help not in words, but in deeds.
Meanwhile, the State Emergency Situations Service reported that they had unblocked the bodies of the victims from the mangled bus in Sumy region using special tools. According to preliminary data, nine people were killed and seven others were injured as a result of the strike by the Russian Armed Forces.
