Hyaluronic acid has been named as a key component of skincare all year round

Dermatologists have revealed why you should use hyaluronic acid daily.

Facial serums have long been one of the basics of skin care. Depending on the application, they may contain salicylic or glycolic acid to fight rashes, vitamin C to even out skin tone, niacinamide and peptides to improve skin elasticity. However, dermatologists emphasise that one ingredient remains universal regardless of season or skin type - hyaluronic acid.

Hyaluronic acid is primarily known for its ability to retain moisture. According to dermatologist Camille Howard (New York), this substance belongs to humectants, which attract and retain water in the skin. That's why hyaluronic acid serums are usually applied under a cream to enhance and lock in the moisturising effect.

Experts compare the effect of such products with a glass of water on a hot day: the skin is more quickly saturated with moisture, becomes firmer and visually "filled". Hyaluronic acid is suitable for daily use and can be used all year round - both in summer and during the heating season, when the skin is particularly affected by dehydration.

Modern formulas often include several types of hyaluronic acid with different molecular weights. This allows the skin to be moisturised at different levels - from the surface to the deeper layers. In some serums hyaluronic acid is supplemented with soft acids, antioxidants, ceramides and plant extracts, which enhances the effect of glowing and smooth skin.

Dermatologists note that the choice of a particular serum depends on the skin type and associated challenges. Denser formulas are suitable for dry and dehydrated skin, while light watery textures are better accepted by combination and oily skin. However, experts emphasise that even in minimalist skincare, hyaluronic acid can play a key role.
