China says it is ready to send troops to Ukraine

China's readiness to support the peacekeeping mission in Ukraine has met with a mixed reaction among EU diplomats.
China has expressed readiness to join the peacekeeping contingent in Ukraine under certain conditions. This was reported by the Welt am Sonntag newspaper with reference to sources in the EU diplomatic circles.
According to the newspaper, Beijing confirmed its readiness to send military personnel only if the mission is deployed on the basis of a UN mandate.
This position has provoked mixed reactions in Brussels. Some diplomats believe that the participation of China and other countries of the Global South can strengthen the legitimacy of the idea of a peacekeeping mission. However, others fear that Beijing may use participation in the operation for intelligence activities and take a pro-Russian stance instead of a neutral one.
In addition, many EU countries are not ready to support the option of a UN-led mission, which also complicates the discussion of the initiative.
Earlier, media reported that Vladimir Putin at a meeting with US President Donald Trump mentioned China among the countries that could become guarantors of Ukraine's security. However, later Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky emphasised that he did not consider Beijing in this capacity.
Recall, the allies are discussing the creation of international security guarantees for Ukraine. In March, the UK and France led a European coalition ready to allocate a military contingent, and about ten countries expressed their readiness to join the possible mission.
