Former Romanian defence minister predicts how war in Ukraine will end
Russia will not resolve the conflict diplomatically, says Mircea Pashka.
Former Romanian defence minister and vice-president of the European Parliament Ioan Mircea Paşca believes that all intentions to end the war between Ukraine and Russia through diplomacy will not succeed. Nor will personal talks with Putin on the subject by the heads of Turkey and China be successful. The expert said this in an interview with TSN.ua.
In his opinion, the military factor in the war will be decisive.
Neither of the sides will agree to stop the war. That is why I cannot envisage a complete cessation of hostilities and the beginning of diplomatic negotiations. That does not sound realistic. The fact that Russia does not want to stop the war is another indicator to me that decisions are taken personally by Putin," the MEP vice-president pointed out.
He called the war itself insane and said that Europe has no intention of stopping its support for Ukraine.
Ukraine is the basis for security and the survival of the civilised world here in Europe and in the world, so the stakes are very high for both sides, so I don't see any signs of abandoning the military factor and taking a diplomatic decision. This is my assessment," the diplomat explained.
