Ukraine is facing perhaps the toughest winter in three years of war.

Ukrainians are expecting a hard and cold winter, which may force about 400,000 more people to leave for the West. Bloomberg writes about this in a reportage article from Ukraine.

The publication notes that the ongoing attacks by the Russians on the country's energy facilities will leave the residents of our country without light and gas in winter, which will be an unbearable ordeal for many citizens.

According to Bloomberg, Russia's massive attacks on Ukraine's power grid have forced many Ukrainians to consider options for the coming winter. Many have already moved to villages, while others are planning to leave the country.

People, as journalists write, doubt that the authorities will be able to quickly restore damaged networks and provide the population with energy.

Power engineers always emphasise that "it will be difficult, but we will survive if there is no further destruction," Bloomberg reports on the words of representatives of the energy sector.

In addition, the publication writes, the restoration of networks requires finances. To partially finance the restoration of power grids, the government almost doubled electricity tariffs in June, "which is hardly to the liking of consumers."

Failure to secure power reinforcements could accelerate the government's already fading support," the publication suggests.

Bloomberg writes that Ukrainians' anger is growing and they blame not only the Russians but also their own government, which some believe remains corrupt, for frequent blackouts, for example.

The constant uncertainty caused by Russia's attacks makes it difficult for Ukrainians to make plans even for the short term, let alone winter. The National Bank of Ukraine predicts that this year another 400,000 people will leave the country due to constant power cuts and the threat to the energy infrastructure," the publication writes.

We will remind, on 26 August, Russia launched one of the largest massive missile strike on Ukraine. One of the main objectives of this strike was to destroy the Ukrainian energy sector. After the shelling, Ukraine returned to rigid schedules of fan blackouts, which had not been in place for several weeks before.
