Blinken shares his views on Ukraine's return of Crimea
However, the final decisions regarding any action can only be made by Kiev.
US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said this in his speech before a House committee on the 2024 budget.
Blinken believes that Ukraine will have to return part of the territories occupied by Russia through diplomatic rather than military means. At the same time, he noted that any decisions in this regard should be made by official Kiev - and no one else.
I believe there will be territory in Ukraine for which Ukrainians will be determined to fight on the battlefield; there may also be territory they decide to return by other means," the US State Department chief said in his speech to the House of Representatives introducing the 2023 budget.
In his speech, the Secretary of State noted that the only thing the US wants is for the war to be over, so that Russia cannot then rearm and attack again in a couple of years.
