The United States has proven to be one of Ukraine's staunchest allies, helping Kiev since the start of the full-scale Russian invasion.

The administration of United States President Joe Biden admits his new request to Congress to allocate additional funds to help Ukraine in the war with Russia if necessary. This was stated by the coordinator for strategic communications of the White House National Security Council, John Kirby, Ukrinform reported.

He noted that it is difficult to talk about any specific amounts and terms of assistance, as Russian aggression against the population of Ukraine continues.

We need to do everything possible to assess Ukraine's needs in the first quarter of the next fiscal year (which comes in the United States from October 2023) and submit a corresponding request to Congress," he said.

Kirby emphasised that the USA remains Ukraine's allies and is ready to provide further support. He noted that the US authorities would not "hesitate to ask for new tranches" to support Kiev.

If we feel that we need to do it and ask for more after the first quarter, or if we need to make changes to what we have already demanded," he explained.

We will remind, on 10 August, US President Joe Biden submitted to Congress a request for additional funding under the aid to Ukraine in the amount of 24 billion dollars.
