Belgium plans to adopt 4-day work week

The bill aims to increase the adult employment rate by more than 80% by 2030 from the current 70.6%.

At the same time, the number of working hours will remain the same as a five-hour work week. That is, within four days, employees will have to work 10 hours a day.

It will also be allowed to choose other options, such as taking a week off or extra work hours weekly.

The bill has yet to be approved in parliament and is expected to come into force in the autumn.
