This is the first such lawsuit for war crimes in Russia.

Oligarch Rinat Akhmetov has filed a lawsuit with the European Court of Human Rights against Russia. The lawsuit refers to compensation for damage caused by the blockade, looting, destruction and redirection of grain and metal flows by the Russian Federation.

This is stated by the Hromadske publication with reference to the press service of the SCM company, owned by Akhmetov.

Akhmetov asks the court to make it clear to Russia that its actions, contributing to the worsening of the food crisis and causing further losses to the Ukrainian economy, are unacceptable.

The guilty must be punished. I, with the help of the best Ukrainian and American lawyers, filed a complaint with the ECHR for damages. This lawsuit is one of the first international legal cases against Russia,” Akhmetov said.

Russia has already responded to Akhmetov's lawsuit. Putin's spokesman said that Russia has withdrawn from the jurisdiction of the European Court of Human Rights.
