Afghan refugee commands Ukrainian soldiers

The Air Force showed an Afghan who commands a detachment in ZSU

He's 40 years old. He has been living in Ukraine since 1998. When Jalal Nuri was a child, Soviet troops invaded Afghanistan. It was an event that resulted in civil wars and the exodus of millions of Afghans from the country.

Jalal himself ended up in Ukraine. In his youth, he mastered martial arts and won many medals in various championships. More than three decades later, he faced yet another Russian invasion, this time as the army commander of his new homeland, Ukraine.

At the beginning of the war, he was sure that the Russian invaders would reach Kyiv. But personally, he did not want to give up and see the Russian flag over his head.

I had two options: give up or die,” says Jalal.

Therefore, he immediately volunteered for ZSU. Now he has 12 people under him.
