Winter will be difficult - Danilov
Russia shelled Ukraine's energy facilities last year, setting precedents for prolonged blackouts.
Ukraine may face a difficult winter due to Putin's madness, the secretary of the National Security and Defence Council, Oleksiy Danilov, has said.
The winter will be difficult and challenging given this madman who is near our territory. Of course, he will try to make problems for us. But I can say for sure that this issue is in a completely different form today. Maximum preparation for a difficult and complicated period is underway," Danilov said.
The Secretary of the National Security and Defence Council noted that this issue was repeatedly considered at the meetings of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief's Headquarters and the President of Ukraine gave appropriate orders and "competent structures are doing some work".
At the same time, Danilov noted that local authorities are involved in the work.
Today, each territorial community must deal with its territory in order for them to have their own light. This is a joint work and business," said Danilov.
Earlier, Ukrainian intelligence reported that Russia intended to attack Ukraine's critical infrastructure, in particular the energy system, again during the autumn-winter period.
