Journalists noticed that Russian Defense Minister Shoigu disappeared from public space

The head of the Russian Defense Ministry, Sergei Shoigu, has not appeared in public space for 12 days.

Dmitry Treschanin, a journalist from Mediazona, was the first to draw attention to this.

After that, the publication "Agency" studied in detail what happened to the minister in March.

It turned out that the last time he appeared in the news of Russian agencies was on March 11, when he talked with his Turkish counterpart Hulusi Akmar. On the same day, the Russian Defense Ministry spoke about Shoigu's visit to the Mandryk Central Military Clinical Hospital, where the minister presented awards to Russian soldiers who participated in hostilities in Ukraine.

On March 18, the Kremlin website mentioned that Shoigu participated in a meeting of the permanent members of the Security Council with Putin. But photos and videos from this meeting were not published. At the same time, Channel One aired a story about Shoigu presenting awards to the military, but the picture in it coincided with the video that the Ministry of Defense published on March 11.

Surrounded by Shoigu , they are discussing that he is unwell - heart problems, an acquaintance of the minister told the Agency. The “Agency” was unable to get a prompt comment from the Ministry of Defense - all the telephone numbers of the press service listed on the website of the department did not answer on Wednesday morning.

▪️The Agency turned to Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov for a comment. But at the time of publication of the news, he did not respond to the request.

Usually Sergei Shoigu is very active in the media. As the Agency previously reported , with his arrival at the Ministry of Defense, the staff of the press service has sharply increased, and the department began to pay great attention to its public image.

Missing not only Shoigu. After March 11, no events were reported with the participation of the head of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces Valery Gerasimov. On this day, news appeared on the TASS website that Gerasimov had held talks with his Turkish counterpart Yashar Guler.
