Zelensky's visit to the USA: Biden allocated a new aid package to Ukraine
Joe Biden has announced a new $200 million military aid package for Ukraine at a meeting with Volodymyr Zelensky.
US President Joe Biden said during a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the White House on Tuesday, 12 December, that additional aid to Ukraine would be allocated.
I have just signed another tranche of 200 million dollars for the Ukrainian Defence Ministry, and these funds will come quickly," Biden said.
Following the talks, the US and Ukrainian presidents gave a joint press conference. .
Joe Biden said that the American people cannot leave Ukraine without help.
Ukraine will come out of this war strong, proud and firmly entrenched in the Western system if we do not abandon it. Americans should be proud of the role they have played in supporting Ukraine's success. And we will continue to provide Ukraine with necessary equipment and weapons for as long as we can," he said.
The US president said Putin is betting on America's inability to help Ukraine and this war.
So we must, we must prove him wrong. The US Congress must provide support. We have to understand how this situation is looked at around the world, how Russia is taking advantage of this," Biden stressed.
Zelensky noted that the AFU had already liberated 50 per cent of the territories occupied by the Russian Federation since the beginning of the full-scale war, and had also made progress in the Black Sea.
The Ukrainian President said that Democrats and Republicans assured him of their full support.
He also answered a journalist's question about the occupied territories:
Giving away our territories is complete madness, it's not Christian. We are talking about living people who are being killed, raped. To give up territory is to give up children. Are the people who are talking about this ready to give up their children to terrorists?
Biden when asked what the U.S. wants answered:
We want Ukraine to win the war. As it says in the UN Charter, defended its sovereignty.
Joe Biden also said that the USA has no doubt that Ukraine's future is in NATO.
As you know, Volodymyr Zelensky arrived in the United States on 11 December. He met with senators, the president of the World Bank and the country's military leadership.
