Zelensky: Ukraine is preparing a plan to end the war for the second summit, where Russia supposed to be
Ukraine is preparing, together with its partners who supported the communiqué of the first peace summit, a detailed plan to end the war by the second summit.
Representatives of the aggressor country Russia must be present there, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi said in interview NBC News.
We will work out every point of these crises brought about by Putin. We will work out our option for ending the war, — said Zelensky.
According to him, Ukraine understands that diplomatically ending the war without Russia is "very difficult", therefore representatives of the Russian Federation should be present at the second summit. This was also requested by the participants of the first summit.
All countries asked us to have Russian representatives at the second summit. We said: we don't mind, we understand everything, let's prepare a plan and call them, — said the president.
What we know about the Global Peace Summit
On June 15−16, the first Global Peace Summit initiated by Ukraine took place in Switzerland. Russia was not invited to participate, and China refused to participate. 100 delegations took part in the event, including 57 heads of state and government from all world regions.
MFA of Switzerland said that the next peace summit for Ukraine can be organized before the US presidential elections, which are to be held in November. The head of the President's Office, Andriy Yermak, said that representatives of Russia may be present at the second peace summit.
On August 30, the Bloomberg agency wrote that Zelensky offered Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to hold a new peace summit in India, but he has not yet agreed. On September 5, the Chancellor of Austria proposed his country as a ground for negotiations between Ukraine and the Russian Federation.
