Zelensky says whether there is a threat of a Russian offensive on Kiev
The Russians have not given up the idea of a large-scale seizure of Ukrainian territories.
As of today, Russia has no forces for a full-scale offensive against Kiev, similar to the one they had at the beginning of the invasion, as the Kremlin understands that Ukraine will be able to hold back the Russian Federation's attacks and inflict heavy losses on the enemy. This was stated by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky.
At the same time, he noted that the Russians continue active fighting in the Kharkiv direction and have not given up the idea of capturing Kharkiv itself. The Ukrainian president said this in an interview with AFP.
Zelensky agreed that the Russian invaders are advancing in Kharkiv region and managed to pass deep into the Ukrainian territory, but emphasised that they have no great success.
They have launched an operation. It may consist of several waves. There was the first wave, and the situation there is controlled. Russian troops are from the border to the place where we stopped them, five to ten kilometres ... I would not say that this is a great success for Russia, but we should be sober and understand that they are going deep into our territory," the President said.
The head of state stressed that Ukraine was aware of the enemy's plans and the defence of Kharkiv was being strengthened. He also noted that an attack on Kharkiv is associated with great difficulties for the invaders.
They want to attack, but they realise that it is very difficult to attack Kharkiv. It is a big city, and they realise that we have forces that will fight for a long time. If they are stopped, they will not die in millions for Kharkiv," Zelensky said.
Note, there is fierce fighting in the area of Volchansk in Kharkiv region. Thanks to the coordinated work of aerial reconnaissance and machine gunners at the positions of the storm troopers of the occupation army could not cross the river.
In addition to the east, there is fighting on the left bank of the Kherson region, where the invaders attacked the positions of the Ukrainian Defence Forces from two directions.
