During a working trip to the east, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has warned of preparations for a new offensive by Russian troops this spring. The head of state recorded his traditional address from the frontline town of Druzhkivka in Donetsk Region.

During the trip, Zelensky met with Ukrainian military men who are holding defence at one of the most tense sections of the front. He spoke to the soldiers of the 28th, 100th, 24th and 36th brigades of the AFU and thanked them for their service.

According to the president, the Russian command is preparing a new wave of offensive in eastern Ukraine. He named the Slavyansk district, Kramatorsk and Druzhkivka itself among the likely areas of strikes.

It is important that the provision of brigades was sufficient. The guys are holding on with dignity. And this is how our country, our diplomacy, our people will continue to hold on," Zelensky emphasised.

Together with the President, the Commander-in-Chief of the AFU Oleksandr Syrskyy also worked on the front line. They visited the command post of the 3rd battalion of the 28th separate mechanised brigade named after the Knights of the Winter Campaign, as well as the command post of the 100th separate mechanised brigade, which defends Konstantinovka from the directions of Pleshcheevka and Ivanopolye.

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as of the morning of 6 March, Ukrainian defenders stopped six attempts to advance Russian troops in the Slavyansk direction over the course of the day. The fighting took place near the Zakitnoye locality and towards Yampol, Platonovka and Rai-Alexandrovka.

On the Konstantinovsky direction, the enemy made 19 attacks in the areas of Pleshcheevka, Ivanopolye, Rusin Yar and Sofiyivka, as well as towards Ilyinovka and Stepanovka.

At the same time, no offensive actions by Russian troops were recorded in the Kramatorsk direction over the past 24 hours.

The Ukrainian military also note that the enemy is actively trying to hit the logistics of the AFU. From time to time, attempts to infiltrate small enemy groups are recorded, but they are quickly detected and destroyed.
